Serving God, Not Men

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” (‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:23-24‬)

It's super easy, almost too easy, to grow a big head when you get involved in a lot of things. We become convinced that because it's important to us, it is important to everyone else. But this self-centered universe that we create in our own minds creates immense pride within ourselves and can cause us to lose sight of God's will for us. This pride that we develop can enslave us - it slowly transforms us into people who work and rely solely on the pleasure of men, rather than God.

Lately, my increased business and involvement in amazing things has gotten to my head. As my work has increased, I've questioned why certain people in my life don't pay attention to it, care about it, ask about it and all around want to know about it. The Lord quickly laid on my mind that there is no other reason I would get upset about that besides me wanting human approval and attention. He held nothing back in convicting me of this wrong mindset. He reminded me that I am working and living for no other person than Himself.

He began to make me realize that all the work I do whether in ministry or personal passion, is for and because of Him. Without the Lord's gift giving and door opening, I wouldn't have been given the opportunities I was. It is GOD who makes all things happen and it is GOD who should be the audience of one we work for.

We have an audience of one, ladies. It is the Lord. Instead of getting caught up in pleasing people and wondering if others approve, work for God's approval and His will for you. When our race has been fully run and completed, it will be how we were able to use our lives for God's good that will matter. Not how we were able to live for men. Why work for people and things that in the end aren't going to mean anything?

When all is over and we are face to face with our Father, He will not ask you about other people, what you achieved for them and how well you were able to appease the world. He will ask you about what you did for HIM. So live and work for Him, and no one else, with all your heart, mind, and soul.

We are here to serve the Lord Jesus. It is His Kingdom that we are working to build up and shed light on.

Each day you get up to work and live your life, put blinders on and work heartily for the Lord and the Lord only.

We are not here to please men and work for them. Because the fact of the matter is, it's impossible. This world has a standard and a level that is unrealistic and impossible to achieve. Work for God, who takes away the standard.

Lord, I pray that as I work you give me a heart and attitude that works solely for You and no one else.
