Replacing Anxiety With Gratitude

READ
In your anger, do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a foothold. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up. (Ephesians 4:26-29)

REFLECT
I struggle with holding grudges. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to change about myself, but my anger tends to get the best of me. For the past few years I have tried to overcome my anger by focusing on the issue and basically trying to talk myself out of being upset.

However, I recently read Ephesians 4:26-29 and my eyes were opened. The Lord made it known to me that instead of focusing on my anger, I should overwhelm myself with happiness. So, from now on, my plan is to fill my heart and mind with such joy that there’s no room for anything negative!

Every morning you have an opportunity to be a happier, and better, version of yourself. If you’re like me and you don’t wake up in a sunny mood every day, then I’ll let you in on a few simple reasons that should instantly brighten your mood.

1.     You were created by God in His image.
2.     No matter what happens, you are forgiven and loved.
3.     God sent His only son to die for your sins.
4.     Because of that sacrifice, you have eternal life in heaven.

These statements might be brief, but their meaning is heavy. It amazes me that I even go through days without stopping to marvel at this truth.
Live your life with unfiltered joy because you possess the love of God. Interrupt anxiety with gratitude. It just might change your outlook on life.

PRAY
Lord, thank You for helping me to see truth today. I want to let go of anger and grudges so that my heart has more room for happiness. Please help me to achieve joy because I have nothing to mourn! Knowing You should be more than enough. Please help this message to reach anyone who might be struggling with anger today. Bless every person who reads this and place Your hand over their lives.

YOUR TURN
Do you acknowledge those four truths daily?
How can you live your life in a more positive way?
I encourage you to write those sentences where you will see them throughout the day. When you run into them, stop and let the meaning of the words sink in.
